Graduate Assistant - Event & Conference Services Department

This position serves as an important link between the Event and Conference Services Department and the event customer.  The GA will work closely with the senior management team to coordinate, manage, and process campus event details.

 

Only energetic, organized, responsible, and flexible students need apply. Event planning experience is not required - but considered a plus. A background in Liberal Arts, Communications, or another discipline involving people skills is preferred.

 

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate, assign and notify event managers of new events
  • Input event details from 25Live to department Excel Spreadsheet
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of “Pop-Up” events and other assigned events
  • Assist with administrative duties (processing event paperwork, files, forms, etc.)
  • Work and communicate regularly with students, staff, vendors, and customers
  • Schedule is 20 hours per week.  TBD after review of class schedule & department needs
  • Work a 4-5 hr Saturday or Sunday shift, as Manager on Duty, twice a month.  TBD.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of ECS policies and procedures
  • Assume a leadership role in assigned duties
  • Assist with marketing and sales objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Graduate program, at Towson University
  • Must be reliable and utilize good time management skills
  • Able to work scheduled days, evenings, or weekends
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact well with others
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrate maturity and professionalism
  • Good reading, writing and math skills
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

Pay/Compensation:
  • $3000 per semester stipend
  • Up to 12 credits tuition waiver per semester

 

 

This is an ideal position for a quick thinker, who works well with details, and enjoys

interacting with others.  It requires an organized person that is in good health and academically strong.  The individual should have reliable transportation or live within walking distance to campus.
