Graduate Assistant, New Student and Family Programs
2019 Job Description
 
**Seeking candidates to start August 2019. Preference will be given to graduate students intending to graduate May 2021 or later.**

The Office of New Student and Family Programs is seeking a Graduate Assistant who will serve as an integral member of the professional staff. The Graduate Assistant will report to the Assistant Director of New Student Programs and focus on Orientation Leader recruitment, training, and assessment; programming for freshmen orientation, and planning for Welcome to TU. The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Student Director team and coordinate the logistics of their programming planning. Additional projects may include working with transfer and family orientation and assisting with marketing and communications projects.
 
This is a 20-hour/week position that includes tuition remission (up to 12 credits per semester) and a bi-weekly stipend. For more information about orientation and New Student and Family Programs, please visit www.towson.edu/orientation.
 
Responsibilities:
·   Coordinate all logistics for Orientation Leader recruitment
·   Develop and implement Orientation Leader training in coordination with New Student Programs staff
·   Meet with campus partners to develop and enhance freshmen orientation programming
·   Serve as a member of the Welcome to TU planning committee
·   Plan programs for Welcome to TU with the Student Director team
 
Qualifications:
·   Knowledge of student development theory
·   Understanding and awareness of diversity, social justice, and inclusion concepts
·   Must be student-centered and customer service-oriented.
·   Ability to complete projects through all stages of management
·   Excellent oral & written communications skills
·   Knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, and social media
·   Ability to multi-task, display flexibility, stay organized, and work well under pressure
·   Comfortable working in a dynamic, student-centered, and fast-paced environment
·   Creativity, good sense of humor, and excellent work ethic
