Graduate Assistant (Women's Resources)

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will aid in the creation and facilitation of educational and cultural programming with a specific focus on the women students population with an intersectional lens. The GA will provide individual, organizational, and programmatic support with a focus on student cultural and identity development. The GA will work under the direction and supervision of Mahnoor Ahmed, Associate Director.
The candidate for this position will be appointed after complying with all policies and procedures outlined in the requirements of Towson University and the College of Graduate Studies and Research. Students interested in this position must be committed to a fully-affirming environment for diverse students and must have foundational knowledge of diversity.

Graduate Assistants assigned to the Center for Student Diversity (CSD) are vital members of the staff and will be expected to perform in a collegial atmosphere. The Graduate Assistant will work a total of 20 hours per week, or as agreed upon by all involved parties.

The CSD staff recognizes that the Graduate Assistant is first and foremost a student, so work assignments and hours of duty will be accommodating of Graduate Assistant’s academic obligations. However, the Graduate Assistant must maintain expected work hours throughout the academic year. The CSD staff will make every effort to incorporate, when possible, the Graduate Assistant’s career interests and academic pursuits into the responsibilities of the position.
General Graduate Assistant Duties:
1. Support activities that address the social, cultural and educational needs of students, with particular emphasis on women students and organizations.
2. Perform duties relative to the logistics and coordination of programming for diverse student populations.
3. Collaborate with other Graduate Assistants, work study students, and staff on tasks assigned.
4. Meet with their supervisor (Mahnoor Ahmed) on a weekly basis to discuss updates, assignments, and plan on-going activities and events.
5. Market, promote, and publicize CSD programs and services through use of the: CSD website, social networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.), print media (i.e., posters, newspaper ads, flyers, etc.), and the Daily Digest announcements.
6. Perform various administrative tasks to include identifying open programming space using the R25 scheduling system, submitting facility request forms to Event and Conference Services (ECS), and coordinating room set ups and technical equipment requests with ECS.
7. Represent the CSD, as needed and requested, at specific meetings, committees, events, and activities.
8. Assist with advising and supporting multicultural student organizations.
9. Assist with CSD signature programs such as the Retreat for Social Justice, Diversity Speaker Series, Cultural Competency Workshops, etc.
10. Attend the Vice President. of Student Affairs Luncheon for GAs—one each semester.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

          filled.
