Tutoring & Learning Center Teaching Assistant (ARP)

The Tutoring & Learning Center (TLC) coordinates the student support services areas of study skills development, tutorial services, study groups, and placement testing. Our goal is to assist students with becoming independent learners. We offer diagnostic and prescriptive assistance designed to help students achieve academic success. Our desire is that students reach their academic goals, promoting achievement and integrity in the educational environment.
Responsibilities:
·        Manage ARP email
·        Assist with fall and spring tutor training
·        Manage an online course for around 150-200 undergraduate students on academic probation, including: student/staff communication, tracking student progress, arranging Orientation and Culmination Meetings, grading students as S/U, and program revision
·        Act as a liaison between the TLC and Academic Advising Center
·        Assist in training and evaluating tutors
·        Lead and develop academic workshops
·        Provide individual academic coaching to students
·        Represent the Academic Achievement Center at outreach events
·        Assist and lead with Academic Group Coaching
·        Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
·        Must be a Towson graduate student
·        Have the ability to take initiative, and think critically
·        Be able to work well with both professionals and students
·        Be flexible
·        Possess strong computer skills
·        Strong communication, and organizational skills
·        Conscientiousness, dedication, creativity, and leadership
·        Comfortable presenting to large groups of students
