Position Description: Graduate Assistant for Campus Programming

 
The Office of Student Activities (SA) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2019-2021 academic years in the area of Campus Programming. This position will assist with various programming efforts within the Office of Student Activities. These programs include but aren’t limited to: Weekends@TU events, TU Holiday, TU After Hours, W2TU & more. The GA for Campus Programming also serves as an advisor to the student Homecoming Committee. Night and weekend work will be frequent and is a requirement for consideration. Candidates who can start in the summer and are looking to hold the position for two years are preferred. This position is supervised by the Coordinator of Campus Programming for Weekend and Late Night Programming.  This is a 20-hour/week position that includes tuition remission (up to 12 credits per semester) and a bi-weekly stipend. 
 
Primary Duties
·        Develop an understanding of the mission and vision of Towson University (TU), Division of Student Affairs, and Office of Student Activities
·        Assist the Office of Student Activities Assistant Director of Programming, Coordinator of Campus Programming, with the creation, evolution, and execution of the vision of late night and weekend programming
·        Attend staff meetings/trainings/retreats, weekend Office of Student Activities events, and other important office functions
·        Plan and coordinate the Weekends@TU roster with the Coordinator of Campus Programming for Weekend & Late Night Programming
·        Supervise 4-6 Campus Programming Assistants in planning and implementation of Office of Student Activities events
·        Participate on the Weekend Programming Council
·        Oversee of Weekends@TU social media and the Campus Activities outlook calendar.
·        Oversee sponsorships for various programs
  • Assist with all facets of Homecoming planning and execution including co-advising the student Homecoming Committee
·        Assist with all facets of TU Holiday planning and execution
·        Work with Student Activities Marketing, Art Services, and Print Services to get designs for events
·        Assist with programmatic and assessment initiatives within Office of Student Activities
·        Assist Office of Student Activities with department and/or university informational sessions (i.e. new student orientations, recruitment sessions, etc.)
·        Assist with the staffing of the front desk area which includes answering phone calls and providing assistance to visitors to the office
·        Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
·        Admitted into a Towson University graduate or certificate program
·        Ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently
·        Awareness of diversity, social justice, and inclusion concepts
·        Must be student friendly and customer service-oriented
·        Ability to complete projects through all stages of development and management
·        Excellent oral & written communications skills
·        Knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook
·        Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, display flexibility, and work well under pressure
·        Comfortable working in a dynamic, student friendly, and fast-paced environment
·        Creativity and excellent work ethic
·        Ability to delegate tasks
