Job Description


General Description:
The Graduate Assistantship for the Panhellenic Association (PHA) serves as an important link between the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and 10 PHA chapters on campus. This graduate assistant will serve as one of the advisors to the executive officers of the Panhellenic Council. 

Job Requirements/Qualification
●         Enrolled in graduate school at Towson University.
●         Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills.
●         Desire to work in a team environment.
●         Desire to build community, demonstrated commitment to diversity and commitment to create positive change.
●         Ability to take initiative and work on assigned project.
●         Prior participation in a Panhellenic Recruitment Process.

Primary responsibilities of the graduate assistant are:
●         Developing all recruitment-related publications, reports and programs including the Panhellenic Association website and social media outlets.
●         Assisting in the planning and implementation of sorority recruitment, Bid Day and revelation.
●         Assist to facilitate Greek 101, TIPS training, Council leadership retreats
●         Developing and managing the Operating and Recruitment budgets.
●         Development and publicity of all council-related activities (Circle of Sisterhood etc.)
●         Present programs for retreats and student organizations as needed.
●         Assist the Vice President of Recruitment and the Director of Recruitment Counseling to coordinate of all Recruitment Counselor activities and events, including but not limited to the interview/selection process, Recruitment Counselor training in the spring, and any additional training necessary in the fall semester.
○  Provide training to all Panhellenic Recruitment chairs about Values Based Recruitment.
●         Other duties as assigned

Additionally, the graduate assistant will provide support to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Greek chapters in the following areas:
●      Development and coordination of the Greek Leadership Awards Program
●      Assistance in development of the Leadership and Greek Emerging Leaders series.
●      Assist in planning and facilitation of events, including, the Greek Leadership Academy, Greek Week, large scale programming, etc.
●      Provide support, guidance and accountability to chapters below determined grade standards.
●      Assistance with data collection, roster updates, assessments, grade reports, and other office items.

In the proper performance of these responsibilities, the graduate assistant should:
●      Maintain regular office hours, completing 20 hours of work throughout the week, and understanding some night and weekend work is required.
●      Attend PHA executive meetings and weekly council meetings.
●      Meet regularly with student leaders, particularly PHA Officers and Presidents.
●      Meet regularly with the Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
●      Complete assigned projects in a timely and professional manner.
●      Maintain regular communication with students and advisors, in addition to the Coordinator and Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
●      Exercise professionalism, good judgment and maturity in all dealings with students, advisors and other individuals one may come in contact with at Towson University.

The PHA graduate assistant position is a 9-month appointment. The Graduate Assistantship is renewable on a yearly basis, if mutually agreed upon by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Panhellenic Association, and the graduate assistant.
