Graduate Program Director Graduate Assistant Job Description

 

Description: The graduate assistant (GA) for the Graduate Program Director will complete tasks and duties which aid in the administration of the program and professional development activities to support all graduate students. The GA’s job duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Assist Graduate Program Director in data analysis, storage, and display for program assessment, new program and course development
  • Assist Graduate Program Director with individual research and service project efforts (e.g., literature search, data management via statistical package, community program management activities) and scholarship dissemination
  • Assist in speaking with prospective students in individual meetings and at formal events
  • Graphic design and publication of graduate program materials (plans of study, newsletters, course flyers)

 

Qualifications: The best candidate for the position will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Available to work and/or meet with the Graduate Program Director on campus 1-2 evenings a week
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Follow through with assignments and duties to completion in a TIMELY manner
  • Self-starter, takes initiative to identify areas of need before being told about them
  • Excellent writing ability ( grammar and spelling)
  • Excellent command or willingness to develop an excellent command of APA publication guidelines
  • Ability to work with faculty and students in a professional manner (e.g., respectful of time constraints, confidentiality; communications by email and in person are respectful)
  • Use professional behaviors at all times (e.g., restricting GA office from other students, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate dress)
  • Skillful in use of software (e.g., Word, Excel, SPSS)

 
To be selected for this position, the candidate must complete an interview. Candidate interviews will include demonstration of writing ability, Excel skill, APA knowledge, and organizational skill.
