Graduate Assistant for New Student and Family Programs

**Seeking candidates to start August 2024. Preference will be given to graduate students intending to graduate in May 2026 or later.** 

 

The Office of New Student and Family Programs is seeking a Graduate Assistant who will serve as an integral member of the professional staff. The Graduate Assistant will report to the Assistant Director of New Student & Family Programs and focus on Student Staff recruitment, training, supervision, and assessment, programming for all Summer Orientation programs, including planning for Welcome to TU. The Graduate Assistant will also have a special focus on marketing and communication for the office and work closely with the Undergraduate Intern team and coordinate the logistics of their programming planning. Additional projects may include working with Academic Advising. 

 

This is a 20-hour/week position that includes tuition remission (up to 12 credits per semester) and a bi-weekly stipend. For more information about orientation and New Student & Family Programs, please visit www.towson.edu/orientation.  

 

Responsibilities can be tailored to the Graduate student but can include:: 

  • Coordinate the logistics of a marketing calendar with the Coordinator for NSFP and Student Intern for marketing
  • Oversee NSFP social media accounts and perform regular content analysis
  • Co-supervision of Student Staff
  • Coordinate logistics for Student Staff recruitment
  • Develop and implement Student Staff training in coordination with New Student Programs staff
  • Coordinate with campus partners to update and enhance online orientation platform.
  • Serve as a member of the Welcome to TU planning committee.
  • Plan programs for Welcome to TU with the NSFP Professional Staff & Undergraduate Intern team.
  • Market and recruit mentors and mentees for the Transfer Mentor Program (TMP)
  • Market and recruit mentors for the Freshman Transition (FTP) Mentor Program
  • Maintain the Transfer Mentor Program page on the Tiger Mentor Network website
  • Assist the Transfer Coordinator in the planning and execution of Mentor Program Kickoff events at the beginning of each semester
  • Create and distribute newsletters for each mentor program
